Board of European Students of Technology (BEST) is a non-profit and non-political organization for students, by students. BEST was founded in 1989 to provide communication, co-operation and exchange possibilities for students of technology all over Europe. Local BEST Group (LBG) Helsinki was one of the 18 first BEST groups. Since then BEST has grown rapidly and today there are LBGs in 79 universities in 30 European countries.

Most visible project in BEST are academic and leisure courses. These courses, lasting 1 to 2 weeks, are organized across Europe during the whole year. On these courses participants from different countries have the opportunity to meet and learn from one another. While these courses are usually known for their very active leisure program, the participants may also get credits from the courses in their local universities. The fee for the academical courses is as maximum 30 euros and it includes food, accommodation, teaching and free time program. The participant only need to pay the trip to the destination.

In addition to courses, BEST offers also international career centre to broaden the horizons for the choice on the job market and educational symposia to help students get their voices heard in educational matters. This means that BEST manages to bring all the partners in the "student - company - university" triangle closer.

BEST has its international board and committees, but the work is mainly done at local BEST groups at different universities. Each local group is different and has its own specialities but the common thing is that the work is done completely on voluntary basis by the active students, besties. Today there are approximately total of 1500 active besties working on all sorts of BEST projects.

We have been organizing yearly Summer Courses, annual sitsit, Pre-Christmas Parties, Cultural Exchanges (2004 Valladolid, 2007 Stockholm/Uppsala/Tampere, 2008 Eindhoven). Our upcoming events are PreChristmasParty, Local Engineering Competition, participation at the Nordic Regional Meetings, organizing Nordic training event...

There is a proverb "BEST supports your craziest ideas" so be welcome to realize you crazies ideas with us!
